I disagree. All the top teams have a good time. Our idea of a good time, however, is competing to the best of our abilities and the rivalry that accompanies the social atmosphere at LANs. Of course we like to mess around, like everybody else, but the competitiveness comes first because that's where we have the most fun. Don't get me wrong, I have made many good friends within the gaming sphere, but tbh I can think of FAR better things to do with +- R350 to have "a good time" than to play computer games for 4 days straight.
The epitome of this argument is that, for me, the prizes are the motivation that lead me to spend that R350 on Frag, rather than investing it elsewhere. I.e. My demand for Frag is directly proportional to the worth of the prizes.
It's the same as you wanting to go to Paris, for example. You may have an awesome time there, but because the costs of getting there and staying there are, I'm guessing, too expensive, you won't go. Now imagine that they say that the first 500 people to buy their tickets will receive their whole trip for free. Suddenly you'll be first in line to buy your ticket to Paris, am I right?
All I'm trying to say is that, for me, the decision whether or not to attend Frag is based on my interpretation of the return on investment I can expect if I do decide to go. If I get out less (in whichever shape or form) than I put in, I'm not likely to do it
