As far as I know, 3d mark 2001 is only going to be good if you are running XP. If you running vista or 7 go for 2006 or vantage. When I was big into my overclocking and 3d marking I found out this interesting fact. Basically (and im not too sure why) if you run 2001 on vista or 7 you will get about half of what you will get if you run the same test in XP. Please can someone confirm this? vista and 7 run on direct x 10-11 2001 only supports direct x 9. I wanna see Zero Cool put xp on his main rig then run 2001, post screenies!!! Gonna be huge score 100k+
Xp x86Windows 7 x86Regardless of the amount of RAM you have, an x86 OS offers better performance in 3DMark than an x64 one
Reason I said he should run 01 is cos with a C2D you get good results in 01 compared to a higher clocked i7
.
3DMark01 is Dx8.1
. You're right about 01 giving the highest score if run on XP. From what I've seen Vista is pretty much useless, Windows 7 is WAYY better in 3DMark even if you compare a slipstreamed Vista to a regular Win7 install
Here's my best result so far, was just testing out cross "gen" (?) xfire. The cards aren't clocked to their max

4890+4870 xfire, 860 @ 4.2
Hope to beat it when my 5850 arrives and I get my 920
